Instrument Protection Systems

Schutzkastensysteme für Meßgeräte Instrument Protection Systems have been developed to provide a weatherproof barrier for every type of installation. Modern process measurement instrumentation needs protection not only from the effects of sun, rain, frost, aggressive atmosphere or dirt but also from accidental damage our unauthorized access.

Completely factory assembled instrument packages for delivery directly to site reduce on-site installation time and costs. The process connections can be made simply when the tube fittings are already mounted. For these complete protection systems, sophisticated products like EDM 2, 3 and 5 valve manifolds and enclosures with heating and accessories are required.
 EDM Series Manifolds

For pressure and differential pressure measurements Armaturenfabrik Franz Schneider has developed EDM 2, 3 and 5 valve manifolds. The EDM manifolds allow direct mounting to a special baseplate or backplate. The transmitters are mounted directly to the manifolds. These features lead to elimination of extra braketing and reduction of various mounting accessories and therefore to remarkable reduction of costs.

  • External stem thread
  • Stem with rolled threads, back seat and non-rotating valve tip. Valve tip in austenitic stainless steel (Standard);
    also available with soft tip in KEL-F® (PCTFE) or POM.
  • Packing PTFE or graphite
  • Optional with O-ring sealing
  • Head unit with anti-tamper-facility on request
  • EDM manifolds are available as standard in stainless steel (1.4404, AISI 316L).
    Exotic materials such as Monel® 400 and Duplex stainless steel (1.4462, UNS No. 31803) on request.
  • Available with material certificates according to EN 10 204
  • 100% pressure tested
  • Max. working pressure 420 bar

 Pressure / Temperature Rating

The straight line indicates the operating range of the manifolds with PTFE packing. The broken line indicates the operating range of the manifold with graphite packing.

The operating range of the Manifold / Transmitter Assembly is determined by the medium, the material of the gasket between manifold and transmitter and the temperature limit of the Transmitter (approx. 120°C).

Enclosures are available in two sizes (Dimensions in mm):

Both enclosures are suitable for multiple instrument applications.
 Features
  • The enclosures are manufactured from hot-pressed glassfibre reinforced polyester (color light grey RAL 7032).
  • Toggle latches and hinges are manufactured from austenitic stainless steel (1.4571). Lockable toggle latches on request.
  • Weatherproof seal as double seal
    • mechanical seal in the form of a tongue and groove which acts at the same time as a protection against lateral forces
    • neoprene seal
    Protection standard IP 65
  • Propstays, baseplates / backplates and pipestand are manufactured from galvanized carbon steel.
    Propstays are also available in stainless steel.
  • Windows in acrylic or safety glass.
  • Insulated enclosures 'arctic' typeInsulation inside, PU foam and aluminium foil.
  • Anti - Static enclosures
    < 109 Ohm in accordande with EN 50 014 (color grey similar RAL 7001)
  • Wall mounting
    Enclosures can be supplied with either horizontal or vertical wall mounting brackets, made of carbon steel or stainless steel.
  • Sunshades
    Shades in hot-pressed glassfibre reinforced polyester are recommended for applications where simple shielding of instruments and fittings etc. from the effects of direct sunlight and atmospheric conditions is required. Available in different sizes.
  • Heating Systems
    Heaters in Instrument Enclosures are designed to provide freeze protection,prevent condensation and maintain constant temperatures.

Depending on the application convection heaters, conduction heaters or heat tracing systems are available.
